Delighting to Worship in God’s House

Day 54: Psalms 26:6-8

Psalm 26:6 I will wash my hands in innocence; So I will go about Your altar, O LORD, 7That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, And tell of all Your wondrous works. 8LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house, And the place where Your glory dwells.

Again, King Jesus, You alone are perfect innocence, but You also help me to walk in innocence. I wash my hands in the innocence of Christ, who not only forgives my sin, but declares me legally righteous. Jesus, Your death for me, Your resurrection, and the sending of Your Holy Spirit into my heart has made me a new creature in Christ. As I confess my sin, You are faithful and just to forgive my sin and to cleanse me of all unrighteousness. You have made me holy, Lord Jesus.

I can enter Your heavenly gates with thanksgiving and praise. I can come boldly to the throne of grace that I can find mercy and grace for my time of need. It is Your blood sacrifice for me that has cleansed me and continues to purify me, even of my secret faults. I come before Your throne, O God, the heavenly altar, not on my own merits, but only on the merits of Christ.

I come so that I can tell all who will hear of the wonder of Your deliverance, Your glory, and Your grace. I thank You privately and publicly for my salvation, my sanctification, and Your ongoing watchful care over me and over all Your creation. Lord, You are faithful. Lord, You never fail.

Jesus has declared Your wondrous works to us and now we pass these works on to others. We speak of the glory of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Who is like unto the Lord our God who dwells on high above all creation needing no one yet supplying life and provision for all His creation? As great, as transcendent as God is, the sovereign Trinity, still You are intimately involved with every particle, every element, and every person in the universe. You need no one, but all the universe needs You.

Lord, I love to live in Your house, to be with You, to worship and celebrate Your glory. Lord, I long for the day when we will arrive in heaven and there will be no more stumbling blocks inside us or outside us. We will worship You in perfection with total delight. We begin to taste some of that even now, but our sinful hearts can still be fickle and far too often cold.

Lord, warm our hearts that our worship may reflect heaven. Let us taste and see that the Lord is good, even now. Let us enter Your worship with thanksgiving and praise. Let us humble ourselves before You. May You be our joy and our delight, our all and in all. Fill us to overflowing with Your presence.

In Jesus name alone I pray.

            Amen.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
