God watches over His people yesterday, today, and forever

Day 161: Psalms 48:4-7

Psalm 48:4 For behold, the kings assembled, They passed by together. 5They saw it, and so they marveled; They were troubled, they hastened away. 6Fear took hold of them there, And pain, as of a woman in birth pangs, 7As when You break the ships of Tarshish With an east wind.

The greatest forces of man and nature, of principalities and powers, are no match for the Lord. When they truly understand His might and majesty, they are as afraid as Pharoah came to be of the Lord God of Moses and Israel. They know that God is in the midst of His people to bless them. They have seen God’s miracles and some of them saw God’s miracles work against the surrounding nations. These nations and their leaders tremble at God’s presence.

Even today, O Lord, though there are many unbelievers who dishonor your name, there are other unbelievers who are God-fearers. They have not fully suppressed the knowledge of Your power and might. They know You are God, but they have not yet bowed the knee to You. They know they are in trouble and that they must repent. They tremble because they know that you could destroy them.

O Lord, may this fear of You be used of You to protect us from the unbelievers until the day comes that all peoples marvel at Your power and majesty. Help them be humble before You. Indeed, turn their hearts to You. But whatever the case, O God, do not let them overcome Your people. Cause them to honor You and be afraid of Your power.

We pray for the day when all Your people will be safe and Your name will be honored forevermore!

Because of the salvation that You obtained through Your Son, our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
