Our Spiritual Inheritance now and forever

Day 157: Psalms 47:4

Psalm 47: 4He will choose our inheritance for us, The excellence of Jacob whom He loves. Selah.

You have made a place for us in Your holy and eternal plan. You have chosen an inheritance for us. We have inherited Your name. Indeed, as with the Levites, You, O Lord, are our inheritance (Joshua 13:33). We are sons and daughters of the king and we have been given thrones on which to reign (Revelation 20:6; II Timothy 2:12). We receive the inheritance of godly wisdom, grace, and most precious of all the gift of Your Holy Spirit in our hearts. In Jesus, You have given Your children exceedingly great and precious promises of all that is to come and all that can help us even know as we live in this fallen world. Paul reminds us of this in many places. In II Corinthians 1: 20 – 22 we are told 20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. 21 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.[d] You have given us this and so much more. Lord, we thank You and praise You. We magnify the Lord who does all things well.

You are our inheritance and we are Your inheritance. You have chosen us to belong to You. As the hymn writer tells us, “I am His and He is mine.” We are Your people and the sheep of Your pasture. Your inheritance to Your children never is corrupted or fades away.

All thanks and praise to You, Lord Jesus!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
