The wonder of God

Day 156 Psalm 47: 2 – 3

Psalm 47:2 For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. 3He will subdue the peoples under us, And the nations under our feet.

O God, we rejoice because of who You are. You are the great and awesome King. You are God and there is no other. You have begun to reveal Yourself to us and we have seen the beginnings of the wonder and glory of who You are.  You have created all that is. You spoke everything into existence by the Word of Your power. You are power. You are might. You are majesty, truth, and holiness. You reveal Your nature through Your creation for those who have eyes to see. Your perfections in every area of Your character takes our breath away when we perceive it and understand it. Lord, there is none like You. There is no one who can compare with the Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – one God blessed forever.

You are a great King over all the earth, indeed over all the universes. You have revealed Yourself to the earth and to mankind. You have lowered Yourself to be involved in love with the race of men. What amazing love that would reach from the heights of heavenly glory to rule and reign over such lesser creatures! We are amazed that You would take the time to be interested in us. We are unworthy of Your love and attention. Your reign over us as King. We are such stubborn and rebellious people. We so often disobey Your laws and seek our own honor and glory more than we seek Your honor, but still, You have loved and cared for Your people.

You reign over Your children as the King who not only provides for His children but also protects His subjects. One day You will put all our enemies in their place. They will no longer oppress us or tempt us to defy You. One day all their evil influence will be removed. One day every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:9-11).

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
