The Glorious Christ and His Eternal Kingdom

Day 145:  Psalms 45:6-7

Psalm 45:6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

Jesus, You are God the King. You are one with the Father and the Holy Spirit. In Hebrews 1:8 this verse is specifically applied to You, Lord Jesus. You are our Lord and Savior, the King who rides in majesty, in power, in beauty, strength, holiness, and yes, in truth.

A scepter of righteousness is the symbol of Your kingdom. It is held up for all of creation to see. You are righteousness and You hold Your righteousness before us and it is precious to us. As the crown jewels are precious to England, cherished by all her people, so is Your righteousness precious to us.

You love righteousness and hate wickedness. Purity, truth, holiness, godliness, honor, goodness, and justice all mark You and Your kingdom. These traits along with righteousness come forth from You and delight You. There is order and beauty. Everything is in the place that You have designed for it.

One day all its influence and murderous ways will be gone because of Your most holy plan and will because the Lord Jesus Christ took our sins upon Himself on the cross and paid the penalty to God the Father for all the sins we have done. He paid the once for all price for all the evil we have done are doing and will ever do. He will one day make all things reconciled to Your perfect and glorious will.

It is little wonder that “. . . God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.” No one could ever do for creation, for the universe, for Your children, what You have done. In Your victory is our victory. Your death and resurrection are the greatest deed of all. No one can hold a candle to Your wondrous and glorious and perfect deeds that have set all Your people free. This grand redemption will be our glory and joy all life long.

O Lord, help us truly to see it, to grasp it, not only with our words but with our hearts and all our lives. Let us cry with the cherubim and seraphim “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty!” [Revelation 4:8]  Let us delight in You and delight to know You, to love You to do Your will. Let nothing come between us that would keep us from fully loving, rejoicing in, and serving You, O Triune God!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
