God, You are my Life

Day 129 Psalm 42:8

Psalm 42:8 The LORD will command His loving kindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me — A prayer to the God of my life.

Even in the midst of our trials, You have never left us alone. Even in the darkest night, You have given us enough of the light of Your Presence to sustain us, to guide us through the valley of the shadow of death. As You led Israel with the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night, so You have helped Your children through the struggles of the day and the fears of the night. You have shown us Your compassion, Your loving kindness, Your mercy and grace that heals the wounds and scars on our hearts. At night the sweet music of Your Holy Spirit soothes the troubles of our soul and ministers to us so that we may rise and face the new day. Truly You are my strength and my song (Exodus 15:2). You are my prayer and through my song I cry to You. Your love draws me to love You. Your help draws me to receive help. You are my Rescuer.

Lord Jesus, You are the God of our lives!

Published by Jim Simoneau

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
