Day 128: Psalm 42:6-7
Psalm 42:6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, And from the heights of Hermon, From the Hill Mizar. 7Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.
Still, even though I know there will be an end to my sufferings, though I know that there will be a day of rejoicing, still, it hurts. Your Son became a man of sorrows for me. He knows our tears and our hurts, our struggles in the depth of our hearts (Isaiah 53:3).
At times the road is long. The struggles seem too great. Even the young men grow weary (Isaiah 41:30). But when the road does seem too long, I will remember You, my Savior, and my God. I remember the promised land. I remember Your past blessings. I will not forget what You have done for me no matter how far away I may go.
Still, the struggles are real. This land is a veil of tears. The flesh still struggles against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh (Galatians 5:17). We still fight against principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12-13). We must still resist the devil, so that he will flee from us (James 4:7). We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God (Acts 14:22).
It is like being in the ocean and wave after wave hits us relentlessly and we feel overwhelmed with no one near to help. We feel the massive weight of the water that spins us like we were nothing. The sounds of the mighty waters are so great we cannot even hear our own voices.
As the Apostle Paul would later tell us, we carry about in our bodies the dying of Jesus that the life of Jesus may also be seen (II Corinthians 4:8-11). We experience the hurt of this fallen world.
O Lord, Help us!
Amen! 🙏🏻
