Day 120 Psalm 40:10 – 15
Psalm 40:11 Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O LORD; Let Your loving kindness and Your truth continually preserve me. 12For innumerable evils have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; Therefore my heart fails me. 13Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; O LORD, make haste to help me! 14Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion Who seek to destroy my life; Let them be driven backward and brought to dishonor Who wish me evil. 15Let them be confounded because of their shame, Who say to me, “Aha, aha!”
Lord God, Your love and tenderness to me is very great. Your mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23). Do not hold back Your mercies during times of trouble and distress. Let Your compassion and Your truth give me inner strength and fortitude to stand in times of trouble. The certainty of Your Word and the comfort of Your Holy Spirit have repeatedly helped me through times of trial.
And troubles have come to me, troubles from within my own soul, the temptations from the devil, the iniquities of my own heart and life, the accuser and his many evil schemes have been struggles for my soul. Sometimes these troubles and especially my own sin have weighed upon me so heavily that I had no more strength. Like the tax collector in the parable of Jesus, all I could say was, “Lord, be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13).
My sins are so numerous. My troubles are so many. At times I have wondered how You could ever love me. How could you ever forgive so many sins? My sins and worries were too many to count. I had almost lost hope. My heart failed me. But You never failed me.
Help me, O God. Hurry to help me. Do not let those who have attacked me destroy me and confound me. Instead, let them be ashamed for their evil against me. They have conspired together against the Lord and His anointed. Deal with those who would destroy my life and my service for You. Do not let them prevail in their attacks against me. Drive them back from their evil. Show their dishonor to a watching world. Expose their evil and hypocrisy. Let them be confounded who say to me, “Aha, we have caught you!” Lord, let them be caught and shown for their self-righteousness, their sin, and hypocrisy. Let their own sin and shame come upon them and be exposed before all.
I ask in Jesus’ Name alone, Amen!
Amen! 🙏🏻
