Day 108: Psalms 38:15-18
Psalm 38:15 For in You, O LORD, I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God. 16For I said, “Hear me, lest they rejoice over me, Lest, when my foot slips, they exalt themselves against me.” 17For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me. 18For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in anguish over my sin.
Holy Trinity, You are my hope. You have shown me the grace and forgiveness and mercy that is found in You and in You alone. You are life and joy and peace. You are love and beauty and truth. To know You is to live. But Lord, I see through a mirror dimly. O God, my heart is willing, but my flesh is weak. I am too much like the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane who fell asleep when they should have prayed. God have mercy upon me and help me arise and follow You. Help me take up my bed and walk. Cast out from me the foolish and empty imaginations by the power of Your Word and Your Holy Spirit and help me see You through the eyes of Your mercy and grace. Help me love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, and help me love my neighbor as Christ has loved me.
Lord, hear. Lord, deliver. Do not let my enemies triumph over me. Do not let the name of Christ be shamed due to my sin. Do not let the wicked who themselves have rebelled against You and sinned against You and Your law with nor repentance, do not let them triumph over me. Please do not let them exalt themselves over me but please be my help and stay. Be who You are, my Rock and my Shield, my Refuge, and my strong Tower. You, O Lord, are the One who fights for me and overcomes all my enemies. Show Yourself to be who You are – the only God and Savior of all Your children. The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!
Lord, I have seen Your deliverance and help in my life again and again. Since my youth, You have delivered me from times when I would have sinned and turned from trusting You, but You brought me back from the brink. You delivered me from those who were too strong for me. They were more cunning and more devious, but You delivered me from their hands.
Lord, I confess my sin to You. I acknowledge my evil, my failure, my pride, and my selfishness. I have not loved You or others as I ought to love. I have sinned in thought, word, and deed. I thank you for the blood of Christ which alone can heal my sin. I declare my sin and repent of it. I hate my sin and turn from my sin and my unbelief, by the power of Your Holy Spirit and because of the work of Christ.
Amen 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻
