God Will Deliver His Children Safely Home

Day 98: Psalms 37:15-20

Psalm 37:15 Their sword shall enter their own heart, And their bows shall be broken. 16A little that a righteous man has Is better than the riches of many wicked. 17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the LORD upholds the righteous. 18The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever. 19They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 20But the wicked shall perish; And the enemies of the LORD, Like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke they shall vanish away.

Lord, You will bring justice on the earth. There will come an end to the terrors of evil. You will settle and establish Your children in righteousness and peace through Your eternal Son, our Savior, and Lord, Jesus Christ, and His righteousness. While Your people wait for their final deliverance into their heavenly home, You will preserve Your children and their precious faith even in the midst of the storms of wickedness.

2 Peter 2:9 reminds us that “. . . the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the Day of Judgment.” You protected Noah and his family from the flood while destroying the wicked all around him. You delivered Lot whose ways proved to be less than perfect, but still, he trusted You and he was Your child so You preserved Him alive.

Because of Your commitment to Your own Holy Name, You will preserve Your children alive. Precious God, You have preserved me from trouble again and again and You have assured my heart with the touch of Your presence that is far more precious to me than all their riches and achievements.

You have always provided all I needed and more. You have provided for us when the enemy attacked us. You have given us great peace when they mocked us and said all manner of evil against us. You will deal with their wickedness in Your time and in Your way and in the meantime, You will preserve us. Thanks be to the Triune God and His perfect deliverance! Through Jesus Christ alone, Amen!.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
