Trusting Christ and not our Angry Ways

Day 96: Psalms 37:8-11

Psalm 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret — it only causes harm. 9For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the LORD, They shall inherit the earth. 10For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, But it shall be no more. 11But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Most holy God, how quickly I get angered when I feel wronged. I do just the opposite of Your instruction in James 1. I am quick to speak, slow to listen, and quick to be angry. Yet my anger, the anger of men does not promote the righteousness of God. Help me not to get caught up in anger when life does not go my way. Help me cease from my sinful anger and frustrations which do not help me or anyone else. Instead, remind me as You do here, that my sinful temper only causes harm. Sometimes the internalization of anger harms my own health and well-being. Sometimes my angry and foolish words can bring harm to others.

You will deal with the wicked and foolish and even the simple-minded in your own time and in your own way. In Your perfect timing, Your people will inherit what is rightfully theirs and the wicked with all their schemes and plans will be no more. The wrong shall fail, the right prevail with peace on earth, goodwill to men.

It is not just a fairy tale. At the end of all things, we shall prevail in Christ. His kingdom will come in full fruition and the wicked will no longer oppress or ever bring pain again over the righteous. All glory be to Christ’s name.

The Prince of Peace will reign in true and final peace. Those who by grace through faith believe in Him will see Him reigning and ruling in His strength.  Those who humbly believe in Him will be delighted in Him and in His rule forever!

Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
