Christ is our wisdom, righteousness and judgement

Day 96: Psalm 36:5 & 6

Psalm 36:5 Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. 6Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O LORD, You preserve man and beast.

Lord, You are merciful to the wicked and do not destroy them immediately. You give them a chance to repent. You provide even for their sustenance. You let the rain fall on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). You teach us that we too must show mercy. To the merciful, You will show mercy (Matthew 5:7; II Samuel 22:2-27).

You are faithful to Yourself and to Your Word. Your faithfulness reaches to heaven itself. You are supremely loyal to Your holy will and Your holy ways. Your righteousness is perfection and teaches us how we ought to be righteous. As the mountains do not change, so Your righteousness does not change. As the mountains are great and vast and mighty, so is Your righteousness. Our only hope to fulfill Your righteousness in our own lives lies in the righteousness that You give by faith through Jesus Christ alone!

Your judgments are deeper than the ocean. They are beyond our finding out.  You rule and reign over all with perfect wisdom. Every detail of creation from the smallest particle of the universe to the vast bank of galaxies were made by You. Every force that ties the pieces of the universe is overseen by You. How amazing is Your creation! Lord, there is none like You. You determine the where, the why, the when, and the how of the whole universe. You know the days of each when no days existed (Psalm 139:16). You, Lord Jesus, are the perfect wisdom and judgment revealed in the flesh.

You have preserved us alive and set our days according to Your most holy and secret will. This takes our breath away. We worship, You, our Triune God! There is none like You! You set the end from the beginning. Even the wicked only has so long. His days will end! You will cause the wicked to end on earth, but the righteous You have redeemed to forever live and rejoice with You!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
