Do not let them prevail, O Lord

Day 91: Psalm 35: 17 – 21

Psalm 35:17 Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue me from their destructions, My precious life from the lions. 18I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people. 19Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies; Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause. 20For they do not speak peace, But they devise deceitful matters Against the quiet ones in the land. 21They also opened their mouth wide against me, And said, “Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen it.”

Our heavenly Father, repeatedly the darkness of sin and evil has sought to destroy the light of Your truth. Satan and his minions, principalities, and powers, people caught up in their evil unbelief defy the light of Your truth and would do all they can to fight against the love and truth of Jesus Christ. In Your perfect wisdom and timing, You have allowed evil to have its time. It makes us cry out to You, O God, “How long will You let them do their evil?” Lord, do not leave us in the clutches of our enemies. As You taught us to pray in the Lord’s prayer, “Deliver us from evil.” Do not let Satan divide and conquer us. Help us not be overcome by his evil schemes. We know His ways. Nothing surprises You, O Lord, so we come to You seeking help in these difficult times when it is hard to know who your friends are and who are your enemies.

Do not let Your enemies and our enemies rejoice over us when we fall. Vindicate us. Do not let their wicked schemes prevail but deal with their evil. Help our faith not to be overcome in these troublesome times but let us hold fast to You. Continue to help us grow stronger and stronger even as they sink lower and lower into their sin and self–deception.

They have prophesied our doom. Do not let them prevail. Let us prevail in the name of our God. Show them their unbelief and humble them. Show them their wickedness and cause them to repent of their sin before it is too late.

In the matchless name of Jesus, we pray, Amen!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
