Handling Hate From Others

Day 90:  Psalms 35:15-21

Psalm 35: 15 But in my adversity they rejoiced And gathered together; Attackers gathered against me, And I did not know it; They tore at me and did not cease; 16With ungodly mockers at feasts They gnashed at me with their teeth.

O Lord our Compassionate God, You sent Your Son to show us Your love and truth, but He was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. People attacked Him and said all manner of false and evil things about Him. Your Son even warned us that some people with these same evil hearts will mock our pain and will attack even more when they see our hurt. They will seek to bring us down and destroy us. They will find fault, bite, and attack. While we may weep over their sadness and trials, the very same ones may laugh at our troubles and seek to increase them. Help us not be surprised or overcome when these things happen.

They conspired against the psalmist as some conspired against Moses, against David, against Paul, yes, and even against the perfect Lord and Savior Jesus. The best of men cannot prevent conspiracies against them. O God deliver us from our unseen enemies, from those who gather against us, behind our back, but before our face speak with lies and tricks. Their hearts are evil, but we did not know it.

They spoke at their meals against me, but I was not privy to their lies. O Lord, You alone can protect Your leaders and give us help against unseen foes. Even as You protect us from Satan and spiritual powers, You, too, must protect us from wagging tongues and human schemes. Give us special insight and help to break their conspiracies.

Help us trust You and Your Son to deliver us from their evil and hate. Because of Jesus’ love please give us the grace we need to walk through these dark valleys of affliction.

            Through Jesus Christ alone, Amen!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
