Help us Through the Sorrow and Hurt of False Acusations

Day 88: Psalms 35:11-12

Psalm 35:11 Fierce witnesses rise up; They ask me things that I do not know. 12They reward me evil for good, To the sorrow of my soul.

Their words are harsh and cruel. They attack me and hear only what they want to hear. The Lord Jesus faced false witnesses against Him. They lied and twisted His words about destroying the temple. They called Him a blasphemer, but He was the only one who did not blaspheme. He always and only told the truth.

In monkey trials, false charges are made and conspiracies are promoted that mock the truth. Motives are judged and impugned. People lash out with angry words and there is no one to speak up to help. It happened to Joseph, to Jeremiah, to Jesus, and the apostle Paul. It happened down through history to those who knew and followed the Lord.

Even though these had done much good and helped many people, though these had shown compassion and kindness, love and tenderness, patience and forgiveness, their enemies only showed harshness and evil motives. Like the Pharisees pretended to be doing good, so these false friends raised their hands against the Lord’s anointed (I Samuel 24:10). They spoke evil of a ruler of God’s people (Acts 23:5). David said he would not be guiltless if he raised his hand against the Lord’s anointed, even one who had failed God like King Saul.

O Lord, help us as Your children, not to be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil by the good and gracious work of Christ. Help us to trust and walk with you whether our enemies are allowed to lie, deceive, and conceive evil against us to our hurt and sorrow, or even if their evil is confronted and removed. Help us with the sorrow in our souls for ourselves and for those who are so lost in their blindness and sin.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
