Day 66: Psalms 30:1-4
Psalm 30:1 A Psalm. A Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me. 2O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. 3O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
Lord, in the greatest way these words remind me of Jesus. His enemies sought to triumph over Him, but He prevailed. He overcame all the forces of evil and did not falter or fail. Yet these words are also about King David, who, in spite of his sins and failures, overcame the obstacles and claimed Your help to be King of Israel. It is about Solomon who overcame the challengers to the throne. It is about each child of God that You have saved from our own sin and those who have sinned against us.
Lord, we praise You because You have helped us and not let our enemies and our attackers overwhelm us. Even though we stumbled, grew weary and fainted, and sometimes failed, yet You never fail Your people. You give us the strength, the faith, the hope, and the courage we need to move on for the glory of God. Lord, you literally brought back Jesus from the dead, and by the power of Your Holy Spirit You united us to Christ and caused Your children to come to life. We cried out to You and You have heard our prayers. You have delivered Your children from our greatest enemies – sin, eternal death, and hell. You have also repeatedly delivered us from worldly fears and troubles.
Psalm 30:4 Sing praise to the LORD, You saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.
Lord, You are our Deliverer, our Redeemer, our Savior. You are the Resurrection and the Life. To know You is to live, even though we die. Though worms destroy this body, yet because of You Lord in our flesh, we shall see God. All thanks and praise to Your Name.
Words are not enough to show You our praise and our gratitude for all You have done. We are overwhelmed by Your kindness, Your mercy, and Your ongoing grace. You have taken us from the darkness to the light, from weakness to strength. You fulfill all Your promises to Your people. Lord, You are our portion and our chief delight.
O Lord, we know that our praise is weak and sporadic. We long for the day when our praise will only be pure and true and never-ending, full of joy, our hearts being fully united to You. O for a heart to praise our God, a heart from sin set free, a heart that always feels the blood so freely shed for me. My gracious Master and my God assist me to proclaim, to spread through all the earth abroad the glories of Your name.
Lord, we remember You and Your mighty works, Your repeated kindnesses, Your gracious provisions, Your forgiveness of our sin as a whole, and Your love for us in purifying our hearts day by day. We remember Your comfort, Your hand upon us in the darkest times, as well as Your wonderful gifts of grace to us in Christ. You have shown us Christ. You have shown us our sin and our need of a Savior, then you enabled us to believe Your Word, to come to Christ and to love Him. We say glory, glory, glory!
Amen! ❤️
