Your Word Purifies Our Lives

Day 37:  Psalms 19:9-14

Psalm 19:9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever.

Lord, help me grasp the fear of the Lord, the reverence, the awe, the amazement, the adoration of You. As John fell on his face before the risen Christ, as Thomas said, “My Lord and my God,” so let the purity of true faith and reverence fill my soul and heart. Grant me and my family this true and holy faith, the reverent fear of Jesus Christ alone as our Lord and Savior (Heb 12: 18 – 25). Your Word, O Lord, is spotless and eternal!

Psalm 19:9  The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

O Lord, Your judgment is always just! Your Words are always true and right. They come from Jesus who is always Faithful and True (Rev 21: 19:11). My own judgment is inconsistent, feeble, and wavering, but Your will, Your way, Your character, and Your Word are totally pure and true.

Psalm 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

More desirable than the world’s richest treasure is the Word of God. It is more important than trillions of dollars than all the money in the world. Better and sweeter than honey or any other sweetness. Your Word is a treasure above all our otherworldly possessions. It is the greatest of all things.

Psalm 19:11 Moreover, by them Your servant is warned and in keeping then, there is great reward.

Not only is the Word of God a rich treasure and sweet to the soul, it is immensely practical to warn us from danger and provide the path to everlasting life. Help me love you more and more through the revelation of Your Word and Your Holy Spirit!

Thank You, O Lord.  In Jesus’ name only, Amen

Psalm 19:12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.

O Lord, indeed You are true; Your Word is true. The heart is indeed deceitful and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). We do not see all our sin, confusion, pride, arrogance – even in our redeemed state in this life.

We only begin to understand what You have revealed, to see more and more of our sin, of our need, and of Your gift of grace. How deep are our sins. There is no one who seeks You unless You draw them. Even my best deeds, my very best deeds, still have elements of my sin and would not be confessed and abandoned except through the love, mercy, and sacrifice of Christ.

Yet, O Lord, You continue to purify and sanctify me, and one day by the grace of Jesus Christ I’ll be in heaven. I will be glorified and free of all my sin.

Thank You that all the guilt is paid now in Jesus. Thank You that sin’s power is broken.  Thank You for purifying me and all Your children.

Lord, please protect me and others from my blunders, and keep my residual sin from harming the kingdom.  As the Psalmist says – cleanse me from secret faults.

Psalm 19:13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins.

Forgive me when I say it is better to get forgiveness than permission. That presumes on Your grace. Forgive me when I get spiritually dry and restore me to faithfulness.

Let my sins not have dominion over me. Do not let me get into a habit of taking my sin lightly.  Help me deal with my sin quickly, to repent of it and move on in holiness, faith and good deeds.

Then I shall be blameless and innocent of great transgression with the blamelessness that comes through faith in Jesus. You will keep me from harming others even as You answered the prayer of Jabez (I Chronicles 4:9-10).

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Lord, from the inside and outside, from my heart, my mind, my soul, my words, my deeds, let me love You, serve You. Help me to love others with Christ’s love and resurrection power working inside. In Jesus name, Amen.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!

  1. Amen 🙏🏻 Psalm 19:14 is an important scripture a preacher friend encouraged his congregation to memorize and pray regularly. It’s been about 8 years, and I still pray it very often 🙏🏻❤️
