Christ Prevails Over His and Our Enemies

Day 14: Psalms 9:6-10

Psalm 9:6 O enemy, destructions are finished forever! And you have destroyed cities; Even their memory has perished. 7But the LORD shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment. 8He shall judge the world in righteousness, And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.

O Lord, You will deal with the enemy. You have rebuked the evil one. We can resist the devil and he will flee from us (James 4:7), from the work of Christ in our personal lives, in our families, in our church, in our denomination, in all Your Church, in our city, and throughout the kingdom of Christ. Indeed the devil and his minions have destroyed cities and nations. From Saddam Hussein and Hitler to Idi Amin, Cambodia’s Pol Pot, Al Queda, ISIS, and their demonic, terrorist forces. Lord, help us deal with the devil and his many devices ( II Corinthians 2:11) using Your grace, Your strength, and Your Holy Spirit (Ephesians 6:12-13).  II Corinthians 10:4 reminds us that “. . . the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”

Lord, You said, “…a thousand shall fall by your side, but it shall not come nigh thee” (Psalm 91:7). Lord, while this applies most pointedly to Jesus, His victory is also our victory. He alone overcame all the hosts of hell. But in the Lord Jesus, all Your children have victory and are to be more than conquerors.

Thank You, Lord, that no trial shall come upon us except that which You have allowed or designed for our good (Romans 8:28). Sometimes the trials are painful (Hebrews 12:11), but You are always with us. Lord, fulfill Your Word in me, my family, our church, and Your kingdom throughout the earth.

As You preserved Israel in the land of Goshen but sent plagues on Egypt in its wickedness, so, O Lord, preserve us. O Lord preserve us and do not let even one from our family fall away. Preserve all my family from the ravages and consequences of sin through the blood of Jesus.

Thank You that there will be a day of judgment. Thank You, too, that You will preserve Your people. You are greater and stronger than all wickedness than all evil. Ultimately, no evil or wickedness will stand against You (Proverbs 21:30). You will judge the nations, the principalities, and the powers of this earth. You, O Lord, endure, but the wicked will be destroyed forever. O Hallelujah, praise to the Lord. You endure. You overcome. You judge. You give Your people hope, forgiveness, rest, shelter, refuge, life, and more. All praise to Your name!

How many wicked men and women are already gone? Even their memory has perished. They sought to make a name for themselves, but their efforts failed. And one day, all that will be left is the memory of battlefields. New ground will be claimed for You, O Lord. Eternity will spread before us in joy.

One day all my sins, all the sins of God’s people, all the oppressors of God’s people, the stumbling blocks will be removed and we will only love the Lord. O Lord, I give You thanks and praise. God, You will judge the world. You will deal with all the evil. Your will, Your way, Your timing is always best.

Psalm 9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. 10And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Lord, You are my refuge, my strong tower. When people attack and conspire behind our backs, when they stir up trouble, You help us through the hurt and the anguish of soul. You have helped me and spoken to my heart. You have carried me through struggles and trials. You are my strength in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9). You are the pearl of great price (Matthew 13:45-46).  You are my all in all.

Thank You, O Lord, for helping me stand (Deuteronomy 18:5; II Chronicles 29:11; Ephesians 6:11, 13). Thank You for being my refuge (Jeremiah 16:19). Lord, though I am fickle and frail, so often foolish and weary, yet You have sustained me (II Timothy 2:13). You have given me Your name (Revelation 2:17; Galatians 4:6). You have caused me to believe, to hope, and to trust. You give me rest in the battle (Psalm 3:5). You have carried me and supplied all my needs through the times of darkness. You have helped and will help all of our family and fellow believers.

Thank You, Lord.  I praise You, and those who know Your name will put their trust in You.  Lord, I trust You.  I thank You for saving me. You have not forsaken those who seek You. Amen, thank You, Lord.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
