You number my days

Day 197: Psalm 56: 8 – 13

Psalm 56:8 You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book? 9When I cry out to you, Then my enemies will turn back; This I know, because God is for me. 10In God (I will praise His word), In the LORD (I will praise His word), 11In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? 12Vows made to You are binding upon me, O God; I will render praises to you, 13For you have delivered my soul from death. Have you not kept my feet from falling, That I may walk before God In the light of the living?

Most Compassionate and loving God, you know my life and my journeys. You know when I rise and when I sit down. You know the thoughts in my head and the intentions of my heart (Psalm 139:2). You keep the prayers and the tears of Your children in precious memory. You know how much I can take, and you provide for me in my need. First, you provide the inner grace to face the trials of my life, but then You also give me the grace to overcome these trials. “Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come. Tis grace has brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home.”

God, you are that friend that is closer than a brother. You will be with me and see me through the deepest and darkest times. Lord, in you, I can face all things. I trust you, O Lord, and the promises of your Word. Repeatedly you have sustained me. All praise, glory, and honor be to your name, both within me and beyond.

Lord, I will praise and serve you. I will follow you all of my life because you have done it. You have made me strong to hope and follow you. You have delivered me again and again from death, destruction, and despair. You have kept my feet from falling so that I may love and follow you. All praise and thanks be to your holy name.

Through Jesus Christ alone. Amen!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
