Even though I fear, I will trust in You

Day 195: Psalm 56: 3 – 4

Psalm 56:3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. 4In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?

I both fear and do not fear. I must be honest enough to admit that I am afraid at times. At times my heart fails within me. If I only counted on my own human strength, I would fail. But my strength, my assurance, and power come from God. I may stumble when I take my eyes off him, but he will never let his children go. I put my trust in the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ! I put my trust in his time-tested, life-tested Word of God. Heaven and earth may pass away, but the Word of God abides forever (Is 40: 8).

Job said of God, though He slays me, yet will I trust Him (Job 13:15). Christians through the ages have died martyrs, but they trusted in the Lord even through death, and the Lord gave them the courage and faith to stand. So, Lord, give us your courage and faith, even during our trials. We do not need to be afraid of those who hurt the body. Christ has saved our souls (Matt 10: 28).

Help us trust in you through all our days and bring us safely home.

Through Jesus Christ alone. Amen.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
