Reassure me of Your strength over evil

Day 187:  Psalms 55:1-3

[ESV] To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David.

Give ear to my prayer, O God, and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy!

2 Attend to me, and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and I moan,

3 because of the noise of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked.

For they drop trouble upon me, and in anger they bear a grudge against me.

Father, at times I need the reassurance of Your Presence, the sweet fragrances of Your support and favor. I know You always hear my prayers, but I say with the psalmist, Lord, hear my prayer. Come and be my rescuer and helper. Listen and come to me in my distress and anguish. Come and comfort and guide and help my soul.

Lord, I am restless and troubled. I do not sleep. I moan in my distress and wonder about all the trials of my life. I remember and think about the evil of the wicked one who set himself against me. They continually seek to oppress me. They seek to bring trouble upon me. They conspire with others who seek my downfall and destruction. They have justified their behavior and acted as righteous when indeed they are wicked. They have chosen hate over love, foolishness over wisdom, gossip, slander, and evil reports over compassion, truth, and mercy. In self-righteousness, blindness, and wickedness, they have raised their hand against the Lord and against His anointed.

Only You, O Lord, can overcome the hate, the evil, and the oppression of the enemy. Only you can deal with their anger, their plots, and wickedness. I trust You, Lord Jesus, to strengthen my soul through the Holy Spirit to face every evil.

            In your Name alone, Amen!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
