The Lord Jesus will overcome His and our enemies

Day 186: Psalms 54:3-7

Psalm 54: 3 [ESV] For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. Selah

Lord, these are not my trials alone. Your Son received many such attacks of sinners against Him as He served You on earth. False witnesses rose up against Him (Psalm 27:12). Proud and violent people sought His life (Psalm 86:14). Psalm 22 speaks of many people who lined up against Him.

My troubles seem so small compared to those of Your Son on earth. Yet still, You take notice of me and help me. You hear my cries to You. You tell me to come to You to find hope and help. I am weak, but You are strong, O Lord.

Psalm 54:4 [ESV] Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.   5 He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them.

You are my helper. You Are my strength, my refuge, and my comfort. You help those who have helped me. You bless those who have blessed me. You trouble those who trouble me.

You will one day settle all accounts on the day of judgment. You will end the fighting and struggles caused by our sin, the world, and the devil.

Psalm 54:6 [ESV]  With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good.

I will give thanks to You for it is good. It brings You glory, and it strengthens my soul. You have commanded me in everything to give thanks with prayer and supplication. You have promised Your peace (Philippians 4:6-7).

Psalm 54:7 [ESV]  For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.

In Jesus Christ, I have been delivered and will be delivered from the enemy and from every trouble of my life. Again and again, I have seen and known Your help. Grant that this may help others count on Your grace and provision.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
