Wicked Unbelievers Attack the Godly

Day 183: Psalms 53:4

Psalm 53:4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon God?

Lord, people go on in their sin and wickedness and turn their evil against Your righteous children who live by faith in Christ’s righteousness. Romans 8:36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Lord, do they not know what they are doing? Are they so blind as not to see their evil deeds? John 16:2-3 says, “They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.” They do not see or comprehend their evil against You or against Your people. They are blind in their sin. Like the Apostle Paul, before he was converted, they think that they are doing God a favor by hurting Christians.

They do not truly call upon the God of the Scriptures, but they call on their false conceptions of God and their idolatrous ways. They do not treat people with dignity and respect.

But God has not forgotten His children. Psalm 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” The martyrs under the throne who long for final resolution will see God’s faithful resolution and blessing to those who have given their lives for Him (See Revelation 6: 9 – 11). Father, give Your children the grace to overcome this evil!

Through Jesus Christ alone. Amen

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
