Christ is our strength now and forever

Day 181: Psalms 52:8-9

Psalm 52:8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever. 9I will praise You forever, Because You have done it; And in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good.

But as for me, my faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of heaven and earth. In Christ, I am strong and growing. In Christ I have life. Let me never be cut off from Him. Even when my faith is weak, let the strength of Christ sustain me. May I abide in Christ and Christ abide in me! May He abide in my family and in Your church here where we serve You. Help us grow and keep growing in Him.

I trust in the Lord forever, because You have given me and my family the gift of faith and eternal life. We do not earn this faith. We only use this gift as You enable us and use us to Your most holy and appointed ends. Forever and ever Your Son has faith and has gifted Your people. I praise You, O Lord, for Your mercy and grace to me and to my family and to Your church. You have done it, O Lord. Your hand is upon Your people. Help us not to take it for granted, but to trust You forever, even as You promise us.

In the presence of Your saints, I will rejoice and call on Your name. I wait on Your name, for it is good. It is good to wait on the Lord and call on His name.

Lord, at times, in the quiet of the morning, I sense Your presence and Your love. I am glad to be with You and pray that You might let me draw ever nearer to You. There is a sweetness and a wonder when I am able to be still and know that You are God. There is strength in Your Presence and a longing for Your Name. Help me to be more consistent in seeking after You, in calling on Your name.

Through Jesus Christ alone I pray. Amen!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
