Day 178 Psalms 51:16-19
Psalm 51:16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart — These, O God, You will not despise. 18Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, With burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.
Lord, it is not about my deeds. It is about Your mercy to us (Daniel 9:18). We cannot do enough rituals. It never was truly about the rituals. It was about believing You and trusting You and following You. It is about humbling ourselves before You with a spirit of true repentance for all our sins and ongoing faith in You.
May our hearts be humble and true before You and before one another. Forgive us when we think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. Forgive us when we believe that the successes and the victories we have achieved are somehow done by our own hands. Lord have mercy upon us and help us confess that our lives, our victories, our strengths, hopes, joys, and even our lives come from You and You alone through the grace You have supplied us in Jesus Christ alone.
Restore Your Church, O Lord. Rebuild the broken down walls of the church in our country and in the world. We are weak around the world. We need Your grace to build us and restore us, to bring us together for the sake of the gospel, without compromising the truth. Help us to be able to bring to You our tithes and offerings and receive them because they come from humble hearts, redeemed hearts, rejoicing hearts that love their Lord and Savior.
In Jesus’ name alone, I pray. Amen and Amen.
