God paid for and purges our sin.

Day 176: Psalms 51: 6-10

Psalm 51:6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. 7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. 9Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. 10Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Lord, You have planned to purify my heart and make me fully yours. You want me to honestly love You and seek You from my inner being and with all my being. You want me to understand and grasp the truth deep within me that You have planted and nurtured. You make me understand who You are and how You work on the earth.

Continue to purify my heart, O God, so that my motives, thoughts, words, and actions are pure. Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean. I John 1:9 tells me that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and just to forgive my sin and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. May my heart, mind, body, and soul be pure before You. Let the light of Christ shine in and through me.

May I rejoice in You after You have set me free from my sin. After You have pulled me from the sewer of my sin, cleansed me of the filth that is inside and out, may I now rejoice with exceedingly great joy. May the aches and the pains and the memories of the evil I have done, and its consequences be only a memory, a shadow overcome by the joy of a new day, a new heart, a greater grasp of the saving power and grace of Jesus Christ healing me. As far is the east is from the west, so far have you removed my sins from me (Psalm 103:12). You have paid for and removed all the indebtedness, the ugliness, the shame, and the fear that came with my sin. What You have done for me continue to work in me.

Put within me that new heart and new spirit that You promised (Ezekiel 36:26-27). May I be continually transformed as I look to You (II Corinthians 3:18). May I be transformed by the renewing of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5) and the renewing of my mind (Romans 12:1-2).

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
