Day 169: Psalms 50:1-3
Psalm 50:1 A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the LORD, Has spoken and called the earth From the rising of the sun to its going down. 2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God will shine forth. 3Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall devour before Him, And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.
Omnipotent God Whose power knows no limits, Who reigns as only Creator, King and Lord from eternity past even to eternity future, You have spoken the universe into existence by the Word of Your power. You spoke and it was done! What majesty! What glory! What power is Yours!
Not only have You created all that is, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but You direct every speck, every particle, and the whole of the universe to Your most holy will and sovereign plan. You cause the earth to spin so that we see the sun as it appears on the horizon until it disappears in our sunset. You reveal the glories of Your creation through the light of the sun.
But You revealed even more of Your glory through the person of Your only eternal Son, our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He came out of Zion, out of Jerusalem. He is the king of glory, the Lord strong and mighty, mighty in battle. Jesus came humbly, but also with glory. John 1:14 reminds us, “We beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.”
You came, O Lord, and did not keep silent. You are the Living Word, the Wisdom of God, the Light of the world. You came and ministered to us grace and truth. You brought the ministry of the Holy Spirit. The fire of the Holy Spirit works inside God’s children’s hearts that they may live with passion for Him. But one day the fire of judgment will fall on those who refuse to hear, who refuse to come to Christ and live.
One day You will remove all evil and only Your glory and Your holiness and Your love will remain. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus! Amen!
