Day 153: Psalms 46:6-9
Psalm 46:6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. 7The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah 8Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth. 9He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.
Most Holy God, there is no one who is like You. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, there is no one who fully possesses the power, the might, the majesty, glory, and honor that belongs to You. You alone are God. Your greatness is unsearchable. When nations think their power is so great, they make their plans to stand against You and against Your children (See Psalm 2). They think that they can overcome. They are deceived in their foolishness because they either ignore any thoughts of God, or they imagine You are far different than You are.
When nations rise up in evil, You have promised that their days, their evil is limited and under Your control. Though they may do violence for a season, their end will come! When You arise and judge them and deal with their wickedness, they utterly fall and are destroyed. All You have to do is to utter Your voice and the earth itself is melted. II Peter 3:10 makes it very clear. “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.”
God will end the violence of humanity. He will put an end to all our violence with His perfect glorious, holy, mighty, and just strength. He will end the evil oppressor.
Through Christ our Sovereign King and Lord, Amen!
