Christ is our King and we are His Bride

Day 148:  Psalms 45:12-16

Psalm 45:12 And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor. 13The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; Her clothing is woven with gold. 14She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors; The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You. 15With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought; They shall enter the King’s palace. 16Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons, Whom You shall make princes in all the earth.

Almighty God, as I read this passage I think of the bride of Christ and her attendants at the wedding of Christ and His Church at the end of the age. I do not fully grasp it. It is shrouded in majesty and mystery. I know You have called the church Your bride. I know You have clothed her in Your righteousness, fine linen, white and clean. I know that You have made all the preparations for the marriage feast and the wedding of the lamb.

You have washed Your bride with Your word. She is precious in Your sight. Her clothing is woven with gold. She wears the finest garments. She appears before the King in the most beautiful robes that can ever be imagined. She is surrounded by beautiful young virgins who are her companions. They come rejoicing in the King and in His bride, in the preparations and all the glories of the wedding and the marriage of the Lamb and His bride. Like younger sisters would rejoice in the wedding of their older sister, so these rejoice in You.

You, Lord Jesus, have purchased her with Your blood and there is no greater treasure in all the creation to You than Your Church. You have wooed her, sung over her, cleansed her, taught her, and paid the purchase price to make her Your own. You are the most tender and gentle, yet also the most powerful and wise loving bridegroom to His bride.

Through the work of Christ multitudes of children, children without number are part of His Bride, the Church. These children are princes on the earth. They rule and reign as Christ’s children are promised.

Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
