The Beauty and Wonder of Christ and His Bride, the Church

Day 146:  Psalms 45:8-11

Psalm 45:8 All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia, Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad. 9Kings’ daughters are among Your honorable women; At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.

Most holy, righteous, and perfect King, eternal Son of the eternal Father, how wondrous is Your splendor and radiance. All of our senses are overwhelmed with awe and wonder. We have seen with our eyes Your glorious power and magnificence as You enter triumphantly on Your white horse. We have heard with our ears the crowds calling Your name in gratitude or servitude. We have tasted with our own lips the goodness of the Lord, through the gifts and provisions He has given us. We have handled with our own hands and experienced with our own lives the abundance of kindnesses and favor He has shown to His people. And here before us, we smell the wondrous fragrances that fill our nostrils with the beautiful and intoxicating wonders that stir our hearts in admiration and appreciation for our God and King. No more the smell of battle and labor and trials and trouble, but now only the sweet perfume of celebration, beauty, and truth from the Lord’s garden inviting whosoever desires to come to the banquet while the invitation is yet still open.

Jesus, You have come from heaven itself. “Out of the ivory palaces, into a world of woe, Only His great eternal love, made our Savior go.” You have come and shown us grace and truth. You did not leave us in our blindness, our deafness, lying as dead men’s bones. You came and brought us to life. You show us the Father. You reveal to us grace and truth.

It is no wonder that kings’ daughters are in your train. They have observed truth and leadership, magnificence, and honor. They see the Source of all majesty – even the Lord Jesus Christ. They know that any beauty, wisdom, or truth that they may have is Your truth, O God. Your Church is called Your bride and You have made her holy and pure beyond the purity of the purest gold! O let us see and know and understand the wonders of Your glory!

            Revealed in Christ alone, Amen!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
