Day 142: Psalms 44:24 – 26
Psalm 44:24 Why do You hide Your face, And forget our affliction and our oppression? 25For our soul is bowed down to the dust; Our body clings to the ground. 26Arise for our help, And redeem us for Your mercies’ sake.
O God, along with the saints of old we cry out to You. We do not understand the reason for our troubles and why You feel so far away from our prayers. Your thoughts are too high for us. We cannot understand Your ways. Even Your Son on the cross cried out, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?” We know You are still there so we cry to You, but we have felt that You have forgotten us. We feel as low as we can go. We feel that we are flat on the ground with no strength to rise.
You have warned us that we must through many tribulations enter into the kingdom of God (Acts 14:22). You have warned us that we are led like sheep to the slaughter. Lord, we cry to You. Help us, O God. Deliver us from evil. Set us free from oppression. See our pain, our weakness, our needs, and come to help us. Arise, O Lord, and defeat Your enemies. Do not let them prevail against us.
Because You are full of grace and mercy, deliver us. Bring us out of these dark and painful seasons of our lives because You sent Your Son to show us Your mercy and grace, please send us Your help. Please deliver us both now and for all eternity!
