Day 138: Psalm 44: 4 – 7
Psalm 44:4 You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob. 5Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. 6For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. 7But You have saved us from our enemies, And have put to shame those who hated us. 8In God we boast all day long, And praise Your name forever. Selah.
God, You are my commander and though I am a poor soldier at best, yet You have commanded victories for me and through me. I have known Your holy hand to work in me and through me. You have used me to speak Your Word and to touch lives. You have enabled me to overcome enemies. You have truly prepared a feast before me in the presence of my enemies. It is not my abilities or strategies, but Your choice. You have rescued me from those who were out to make my life miserable. You have put to shame those who wrongfully conspired against us.
Just as Jesus was mocked by the Pharisees and scribes, before and during the trial and crucifixion, so He also triumphed over men and all the powers of evil in the universe. Those who plotted against Him, saw Jesus and His followers grow even stronger and multiply.
So, O Lord Jesus Christ, in You we have deliverances and hope. We have seen evidence of Your sure and certain hope working in us. We give You thanks and praise You for Your mighty works.
Amen!
