Do Not Mourn When the Enemy Oppresses

Day 133: Psalm 43:2

Psalm 43:2 For You are the God of my strength; Why do You cast me off? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

You are the God who justifies, who gives me the strength to stand from Your own unlimited strength. When You are working inside me, beside me, and on my behalf, I can do all things. But I feel distant from You at times. There are times when I do not sense Your presence or understand Your ways. I feel my weakness.

You allow my enemy to oppress me for a season. You allow my opponent to persecute and trouble me. Your own Son was taken captive, though He could have resisted their physical force. Yet for Your glory and the salvation of our souls, He endured the cross despising the shame. Lord, help us trust and follow Jesus. Help us to do good even during times of oppression from the enemy. Do not let the wickedness or the oppression of the enemy cause us to lose hope or faith in You. Help us not grow weary, cold, or unbelieving. In Matthew 24:12 You have warned us that due to injustice the love of many will grow cold. In Romans 12:21 the Holy Spirit tells us through the Apostle Paul, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Do not let them steal our joy in the Lord for the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ alone, Amen!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
