Day 111  Psalms 39:6-8

Psalm 39:6 Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them. 7“And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. 8Deliver me from all my transgressions; Do not make me the reproach of the foolish.

Lord, You teach us that we are not nearly as strong and as significant as we think we are. You have shown us that our lives are like passing shadows as we enter and exit our time here on earth. You reveal to us that we are so busy with our own thoughts and plans. You show us how we amass accomplishments and achievements, possessions, and riches, but we do not know how they will truly be used in generations beyond us.

Lord, I do not hope in myself. I hope only in You. When all the dust of earth has settled, what remains is You and my life with You. You are the reason for life and for all I do. Deliver me from all my sins. Keep me from the path of foolishness and self-centeredness. Do not let me be an example of what men should not be but let me be a godly example of those who follow and serve You.

Do not let the foolishness of my sin bring dishonor on Your name. Do not give me what I deserve. Please give me Your grace and mercy. I pray that You will have mercy on me and on all who truly call on Your name. Keep us from sin. But when we do sin cause us to turn from our sin in true repentance and to turn and follow You.

Through Jesus Christ alone, I pray. Amen

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
