Day 109 Psalms 38:19-22
Psalm 38:19 But my enemies are vigorous, and they are strong; And those who hate me wrongfully have multiplied. 20Those also who render evil for good, They are my adversaries, because I follow what is good. 21Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me! 22Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!
Father, You know how humanly powerful, how well connected, and how overwhelming our enemies look to us. But no one is more powerful than You. The mightiest president or king, the devil himself can only do what You allow and design for the glory of Your name and the eternal good of Your people. Do not let their evil overwhelm our faith.
They have raised themselves against the Lord’s anointed and there is no remorse for their sin. They have spoken evil of a ruler of Your people. The Lord will deal with them. They tell lies. They conspire together with whispers and consider themselves good. They do evil to those who have done them good. They have refused to pray and seek Your face. They blame their sins on others and will not take responsibility for their own sins. They make excuses for their sins. Even when their sin is exposed, they will not repent or turn from their evil ways. They twist the Word of God out of its context. They have listened to gossip and have spread evil reports.
Lord, I have sought to follow what is good and right by Your grace. Be with me and help me to stand for You. I would do Your good. Do not forsake me, O Lord! Be near me and help me quickly! Deliver me, O God of my salvation!
Lord, I have seen Your deliverance again and again. You have set me free from the evil within and evil without. You have helped me trust You and have given me a cause to rejoice. Continue to draw my heart and the heart of my family and the hearts of my staff, their families, the elders, deacons, their families, and all the church and those You have called us to reach. Help us continue to reach out with Your love and with Your truth. Deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen!
