God will give grace even through the attacks of our enemies

Day 107 Psalms 38:12-14

Psalm 38:12 Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, And plan deception all the day long. 13But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute who does not open his mouth. 14Thus I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth is no response.

O Lord God who has created all there is and given life and blessings to humanity. How terribly have we turned from trusting and following You. Even Your eternal Son, our Savior and King, came to those who were called Your people, but they would not receive You. They plotted, planned, and did evil to the Light and Life of the world.

O God, in a much lesser way I have felt these attacks. Not only are there times when it seems that my friends and family have abandoned me, but my enemies are crouching at the door, ready to pounce upon me. They conspire together against me. They seek to hurt me and talk in their little groups about ways they can finish me off. They come up with new plots and schemes of how they can destroy me. If one plan does not work, they develop another and do all they can to bring me down.

But I do not hear them. They plot in secret places, behind my back. They say things that perhaps I could hear if I was spiritually astute and alert, but my own sins and foolishness have caused me to be slow to hear and perceive. Even when I do hear, I have no response, because my guilt rolls over me like waves. Lord, have mercy on me a sinner. Let Your waves of grace and forgiveness go over me.

Jesus, You knew that the hearts of men were evil and against You, yet still You came to die for us. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly. O Lord, give us the grace to rest in Your forgiveness and Your resurrection power even when things seem so hard and cruel. Help us never forget that You rule and reign over all and that one day all matters will be settled, and Your children will suffer hurt no more!

            Through Jesus Christ alone!

            Amen

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
