Jesus is our life and light

Day 98: Psalm 36: 9

Psalm 36:9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.

Jesus Christ, for those who believe in Your incarnation, life, death, and resurrection we have life. We have life through creation, providence, but especially through Your redemption. As You have said in Your Word, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

Lord, You have caused us to drink at Your river of life. You have become to us and in us the fountain of life. Because You have placed Your Holy Spirit within us, out of us flow rivers of Your living water (John 7:38). And this river of life, this fountain of life that You have poured into our hearts, that overflows to the glory of God has also become a river of light. In this light that You shed abroad in our hearts (II Corinthians 4:6), we can see more light. Light brings light and opens our eyes more and more, like a man awakening out of the darkness of sleep, so our eyes are becoming adjusted to greater and greater light.

Teach us Your light, Your life, fill us more and more with Your love, Your light Your truth, with Your very presence. O Lord, we do not realize sometimes, how precious Your light and life and presence is to us. Help us delight in You above all else. Be to us what You are: the greatest delight and joy of our hearts. To know You is life eternal.

In Jesus’ Name, we praise the Triune God!

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
