Our Greatest Treasure and Delight is You!

Day 81:  Psalms 34:7-10  

            Psalm 34:7 The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. 8Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! 

            Your angels are watching over me, over all Your children, O God. You have surrounded us with Your protection. There is nothing, not a single trial or blessing, that does not first pass through Your watching eye and care for me. Just as You set every day and deed of Your Son who only perfectly did the will of His Father, so my life and times are in Your hands because of Him and in spite of my sin and fallenness. Lord, I thank You and praise You for Your mercy and help to me, Your grace, love and renewing strength, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, set me free to do Your holy will.

            I thank and praise You, O Lord, for delivering me from my own sin by the blood of Jesus Christ and from those who sin against me. Thank You for continually delivering me from the world, the flesh, and the devil. Even when I felt that I could fight no longer, You were setting me free from my sin and from my foolishness.

            O taste and see that the Lord is good. Lord, You are good and You do good to and for Your children who call on Your name. You even let Your rain fall on the just and the unjust. You show kindness even to the wicked that they may see Your grace and repent, or be without excuse for their failure to taste and see that the Lord is good. May our lives and our zeal and our testimony inspire others to seek You and find that You are God, that You are good, that You help those who call on Your name in Spirit and in truth. Let them see Your goodness not only in our lives, but in their own lives as well. Help us pass this to or families and friends, even to our fellow believers who already know our goodness and truth.

            Lord, You have blessed us so that we can trust in You. It is a blessing to know that You are with us, that You have helped us in the past, You are helping us in the present, and You will yet help us in the future. Lord, we praise and magnify Your name. We praise You with the angels. We give You glory and honor and praise that belongs to You and to You alone.

            Psalm 34:9 Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. 10The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

            O Lord, You are my meat and drink, my bread, my wine, my life breath. Jesus said that to do Your will was His bread. O Lord, please help that be true of Your servants as we grow in Your grace and truth. You provide all I need and more. You give and You take away according to Your wise, holy, and perfect plan. “Every joy or trial, falleth from above, traced upon our dial by the Son of love, we may trust Him fully all for us to do. Those who trust Him wholly, find Him wholly true. Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blessed, finding as He promised, perfect peace and rest.” But Your blessings have been more than the trials. You have given me reasons to rejoice in You and to hope in You. Please forgive me for my complaints, my whining, and childish moments.

            Knowing that You love me and care for me ought to be enough. Let me find my fullest, my richest, my greatest love, joy, peace, and fulfillment in You and in You alone. You are life. You are my life. Even though I get distracted and too often seek other things, You are the One I need and love. I thank You for the other gifts and blessings of creation, but most of all I thank You that You have turned Your eye to me in favorable ways. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. You are teaching me to rejoice in You, to be grateful for all Your many blessings. You have given me all I need and more. O Lord, may I help others to learn this lesson as well. May they also see that You will provide all we need. You will see us through the worst trials and provide all we need to follow You.

            The lions, some of the strongest and most ferocious beasts, who go out and get their own food, who are tough and strong, even these beasts of the forests, just like the champions of industry and human development, can do nothing unless You enable them. But those who seek You and wait on You will have all that they need. Your grace is sufficient. In Christ, we have all good things. You feed us in our hunger. You nourish us in our thirst. You clothe us, protect us, and provide for us every good thing. All praise and glory be to Your name, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!
