God’s Counsel Rules Over All

Day 78:  Psalms 33:10-16

Psalm 33:10 The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. 11The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. 12Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

You, God, not only created the universe and more particularly our planet but then nations, the individuals, every detail of existence. You have made it plain that the nations do not set themselves in power or remove themselves from power. You are the sovereign Lord who raises nations and brings them to their knees. You, omnipotent, omniscient, eternal, and only true God make our words stand or bring our words to nothing. In the end, it is only Your counsel and word that will stand. Your plans will be for all generations of time. Your people that You have chosen will be blessed forever! How blessed are the nations who know and honor You as the Lord of all!

Psalm 33:13 The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. 14From the place of His dwelling He looks On all the inhabitants of the earth; 15He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. 16No king is saved by the multitude of an army; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.

God, You know and see all things in the past, present, and future! You created everything. You direct all the universe to Your appointed ends, from the least to the greatest. You do this not only in the big picture but also in the details of all there is. Some have said that the devil is in the details, but it is You, O Triune God, who superintends everyone of the details of our existence. You are our Father who is heaven and who is overseeing all.

You have fashioned every heart, from the greatest king to the lowliest individual who has ever or will ever exist. You know Your sheep by name. You know my name. You have fashioned my heart. O praise be to Your name.

You have fashioned my heart and You see my heart and the hearts of all. You, O Lord see all our works and judge them with perfect judgment. You, O Lord will judge if these were done as works of true faith in You and Your grace. You are totally sovereign over all Your creation, yet I am also fully responsible for my thoughts, words, and deeds.

My only hope lies in Your mercy and grace. You drive me to my knees to seek You. O great and mighty God and Savior, the only living and true God, the God who hears and answers prayers offered to You in the name of Your Son and only Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
