Lord, You Prevail Against Our Enemies

Day 71:  Psalms 31:14-16

Psalm 31:14-16 But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” 15My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me. 16Make Your face shine upon Your servant; Save me for Your mercies’ sake.

As David trusted the Lord and He helped him, so God helps His children to trust Him and get through their trials. As Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God trusted God the Father and committed His soul to His Father even through the cross, death, and resurrection, so through David’s example, and Christ’s resurrection power, we are strengthened to stand, not in our own strength, but in the strength of Jesus Christ, our Savior!

Even when the times are darkest and my soul is stretched beyond my limits and I feel that I can take no more, even then You are with me, Lord. You have seen me through the malice and hate of all my enemies. You overcome my own sin and the sinners that have stood against me. Help me, O Lord, to put my trust in You. Your strength is perfect when my strength is gone. When I have no more strength, You renew my strength.

You are my God and You have delivered me again and again from myself and from those who have attacked me and said all manner of evil against me. My time, my life, and my destiny are all in Your hand. My days were numbered and set for me before I was born. Nothing will come upon me that You have not directed and designed for my ultimate good and for Your honor and praise.

Lord, You have bid me come to Your throne of grace to find mercy and grace in my time of need. Lord, You have repeatedly been faithful to this and all Your promises to me. You have delivered me from my enemies and from the hand of those who have persecuted me. I thank You, O Lord, and praise You and pray that You would continue to protect me, my family, and all Your people from the devil and all his schemes, from my own sin, the influences of the world, and whatever else would keep us from giving You our very best, my all in all.

Lord, let Your face shine upon us and lift us up that Your name might be glorified, that other Christians might be encouraged through their times of testing and discouragement. Save us, so that Your people may see Your mercy and grace and know the wonder, the joy, the glory of Your salvation. May our lives be a gracious testimony to our God.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
