God Grants Us Life In the Midst of His Enemies

Day 33:  Psalms 18:25-34

Psalm 18:25 With the merciful, You will show Yourself merciful; with a blameless man, You will show Yourself blameless.

O Lord, I strive to be merciful and blameless, but I must confess that my mercy is not as strong nor full of grace as Your mercy. My dim reflection of Your mercy falls so far short. Strengthen me that I may be merciful.

You have been merciful to me personally and You have  helped me to show some mercy, to be blameless in some matters. Yet, ultimately only Christ is truly and utterly blameless in all things.

Psalm 18:26 With the pure, You will show Yourself pure and with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd. Blessed are the pure in Spirit for they will see God.

Lord, help my heart, mind, and soul to be pure, not only legally, but also in practical, living holiness.

Lord, You have outwitted my enemies, those who conspire against me. You have protected me when I could not protect myself.

Psalm 18:27 For You will save the humble people but will bring down haughty looks.

Lord, please let us be humble, loving, and grateful to You. Help us not be proud. In Jesus name alone. Amen.

Psalm 18:28 For You will light my lamp. The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.

Lord, You will show me the way that You want me to go. You will enlighten my darkness.  You continue to teach me by Your Word and by Your Holy Spirit. Help me, O Lord, to see Your light, to hear Your voice, to desire Your will and way, to delight in Your will and to do it!

Psalm 18:29 For by You I can run against a troop; by my God I can leap over a wall.

Lord, with Your help I can stand against the opposition. I can do physical, spiritual, mental, emotional and other feats that You enable me to do. These are things I could not do on my own.  But You give me the courage, the endurance, the ability to make these things a reality for Your glory.

Just as You gave the disciples boldness through the ministry of Your Holy Spirit in their hearts, so make us bold and wise to speak for You (Acts 4:29-31).

By God’s help I have strength. By God’s help I also have the skill I need to fight for truth.  “Blessed be the LORD my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle…” (Ps. 144:1).

Psalm 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect. The word of the Lord is proven. He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Lord, You do care for all Your children. You lead and guide us along Your paths. You help us to follow and serve You. Help us, O Lord, to make our lives a reality of trusting and serving and following You. In Jesus name, Amen.

Psalm 18:31 For who is God, except the Lord and who is a rock, except our God? God, You are Lord. You are more stable than the mighty mountains made of stone. You are pure, holy, all powerful, creator of all, sustainer of all, designer, controller, director of all. You are the Savior, the king, the ruler, the alpha and omega. You alone are God.

Psalm 18:32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

Lord, You give me the inner strength to face all that comes my way. You lead me in right paths.

Psalm  18:33 And makes my feet like the feet of a dear and sets me on my high places.

Lord, You have enabled me to stand in treacherous places. You have helped me to endure the rock slides, the avalanches. I remain only because You have kept me safe through storm and ice, through heat and hail, through earthquake and more.

Psalm 18:34 He teaches my hands to make war so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

Lord, You help me say the words that penetrate to the heart of the issues. You help me overcome my enemies. You, O Lord, alone deserve the glory.

Jesus Christ brought me to Himself at a very early age. I began seeking the Lord and writing prayer journals in my early teens and have continued to grow in my knowledge and experience of prayer. I am still learning and growing in my prayer life and long to help others grow in their prayer lives as well. I am not an expert, but a practitioner who needs God to continue to teach me to pray. Prayer is both simple, yet also profound. It is deep and draws us into the depth of God, but it is also so easy and wondrous that we can cry out to God with "Abba, Father" prayers because of the work of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Prayer comes from God's heart, works in our hearts, and teaches us to go back to seek God's heart!
