Day 31: Psalms 18: 10-15
Psalm 18:10 And he rode upon the cherub and flew. He flew upon the wings of the wind.
You are the sovereign, saving, sending God who sent Your only Son to save us by His perfect and most glorious sacrifice for our sin at just the right time. You provided Your Word and Your Spirit to show Your people Your truth and life. Lord, in my own life, You sent godly people to preach and teach Your Word and it sustained our souls through discouragement and kept us from despair.
Psalm 18:11 He made darkness His secret place. His canopy around Him was dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
Lord, sometimes it is in the deepest darkness that I am most aware of Your presence — in the storm, the wind, the rain. Though I tremble, yet You have always been with me. Just as You were with the disciples in the storm on the sea of Galilee. Lord, You have always been with me. Too often, like Peter and the disciples I have been too afraid of the storm to rest in You. Lord, forgive me. Lord, help me trust You totally and not fear.
Psalm 18:12 From the brightness before Him His thick clouds passed with hailstones and coals of fire.
Lord, even in the deep darkness of the storm, the flashes of lightning reveal Your power; the hail and fire remind us that You are Master of all. From hurricanes and tsunamis, to earthquakes and solar flares, from wars, floods, tornadoes and all sorts of devastation, still You are Lord and King over all.
Psalm 18:13 The Lord thundered from heaven and the Most High uttered His voice, hailstones and coals of fire.
Lord, You need not make a sound to do Your will, but You display Your power so that we might be in awe of You, that we might see and acknowledge that You alone are the Sustainer and Creator. All creation must honor and obey You.
Psalm 18:14 He sent out His arrows and scattered the foe, lightnings in abundance and He vanquished them.
Lord, You use many devices to accomplish Your goals. You raise kings and lower kings. You use lightning and darkness, wind and rain, dark and light. All creation serves Your appointed purposes.
Psalm 18:15 Then the channels of the sea were seen. The foundations of the world uncovered at Your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.
Lord, Your power has revealed the height and depth of Your creation: From the gaping mouth of the earthquake to the depths of the oceans which You reveal through storms and mighty waves. Lord, You are God and Your power is unsearchable. Nothing is too hard for You.
O Lord, we thank and praise You for the revelation of Your great power and You reveal that You are for us!
Through Jesus Christ alone,
Amen
