Day 17: Psalms 9:15-20
Psalm 9:15 The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught. 16The LORD is known by the judgment He executes; The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah.
O Lord, they have been caught in their own deception. Their traitorous acts have come to haunt them. Lord, there is some justice in this life, until full and final justice comes. Father, let us learn from Your judgment on the nations. Father, help us learn from our own nation’s traitorous and rebellious deeds against You. Forgive our sinful manipulations and, Lord, deliver us from the plots against us.
The Lord is known by the judgment He executes. Lord, the nations without You, do not value life, or cherish their people, but reign in cruelty. Lord, in Your time, You will bring all things to light. You will deal with all the evil that has been done both at home and abroad.
Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God. 18For the needy shall not always be forgotten; The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever.
Lord, I do not wish this on my enemies, though I must confess that at times I have wanted to see people suffer for their sin. Yet, O Lord, please forgive me. Please forgive many! Fling wide the gates and bring them into heaven.
But Lord, some of the wicked will never repent. There are those who join together to stand against You and Your truth. Lord, You will deal with evil. You will not always hold back Your wrath. Judgment day is coming!
But Lord, though You will judge the wicked and proud, You will give grace to the poor and needy (James 4:6; I Peter 5:5). Lord, You will deliver us (Psalm 50:15). You will remember us in our need and see us through even the most severe trials (Judges 16:28). You will deal with those who have wickedly oppressed us. Lord, set us free from sin and bring us into Your land of blessedness.
Lord, You have lifted us up again and again. You have caused us to prosper under Your hand. Please help us to appreciate and seek after the spiritual treasures we have in Christ.
Psalm 9:19 Arise, O LORD, Do not let man prevail; Let the nations be judged in Your sight. 20Put them in fear, O LORD, That the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.
Lord, in and through Your only Son, Jesus, You have delivered us. You have delivered us from harsh and cruel men (Psalm 71:4). Thank You, O Lord. You have helped us to see our sin and to repent and to put our trust in You. In spite of our sin, You have used us and helped us to speak in Your name. O Lord, I thank You and praise You and ask that You would strengthen us to serve You, love You and follow You even more faithfully.
Lord, we pray that before it is too late for them, you might cause the nations to see their need to repent and turn from their wickedness to find their deliverance in You. Let them see their frailty and their need before they come to judgement.
Do not let them prevail, O Lord. Do not let the nations and the demons continue to oppress. Come quickly Lord Jesus and deal with their evil and sin.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Amen!!
